A very famous Swedish proverb says, “There is nothing in a caterpillar that tells you it’s going to be a butterfly.” That’s exactly what Metamorphosis is all about.
For the children of KG-II, a whole week revolved around the theme, “Insect”. Children were exposed to different varieties of insects, learnt about their body parts, their usefulness and the health hazards that can be caused by them. They also learnt about the life cycle of a butterfly.
Different activities were planned each day to make the children understand the different stages of the life cycle of a butterfly. Starting with eggs to caterpillar to pupa and finally the bright and beautiful butterfly was all made by the enthusiastic young ones and sequentially pasted on a paper.
The children even presented the life cycle through an act where their hands were painted to represent each stage. It was thoroughly enjoyed by each and every child. It was heartening to hear each one of them narrating the life cycle with much enthusiasm. The learning activity helped them to enhance their visual, naturalistic, linguistic and interpersonal skills.
