Little Hands, Big Joys: A Day of Creativity and Culinary Delights

“While we try to teach our children all about life, our children teach us what life is all about.” Angela Schwindt

On 1 May 2025, the vibrant young learners of KG I at SAI Angan embarked on a joyful virtual journey filled with creativity, exploration, and laughter. The day was carefully curated to blend fun with foundational learning, offering the little SAIoneers an engaging and memorable experience right before their summer break.

The morning began with a delightful tear-and-paste craft activity, where children were encouraged to use old newspapers and magazines to create colourful collages. This simple yet impactful exercise served a dual purpose—it sparked imagination while developing fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. As tiny fingers tore paper with care and glued shapes onto paper with gleaming eyes, the essence of experiential learning unfolded beautifully. The task wasn’t just about creating something visually appealing; it was about enabling children to explore textures, build patience, and enhance control over their movements.

Following the creative burst was a culinary session that turned every little learner into a confident young chef. With the guidance of their parents and teachers, the children joyfully assembled easy-to-make snacks using everyday ingredients like boiled potatoes, cheese, bhujiya, and tangy sauces. This hands-on cooking experience was not only a treat for the senses but also a wonderful lesson in sequencing, safety, and independence. Measuring ingredients, arranging them with precision, and finally tasting their own creation brought immense satisfaction and pride to every child. The activity was a gentle yet effective way to introduce concepts of nutrition, hygiene, and self-reliance—all while having fun.

What stood out most was the sheer happiness that radiated through the screens. The virtual format did not dampen the spirit of the day; in fact, it brought children and families together in a shared celebration of learning. The interaction with peers, the encouragement from teachers, and the proud smiles of parents created a warm, supportive environment that reflected the values of the SAI Angan learning ethos.

This special day was more than just an end-of-term celebration—it was a reminder that early childhood education thrives on joy, curiosity, and active participation. Every torn piece of paper and every spoonful of mashed potato became a stepping stone in their developmental journey. The activities fostered cognitive growth, social interaction, and emotional expression, laying a strong foundation for the years to come.

As the day drew to a close, the little SAIoneers waved goodbye, their faces glowing with accomplishment and excitement. With hearts full of joy and minds bubbling with ideas, they stepped into the summer vacation, carrying with them the warmth of shared experiences and the promise of more creative adventures ahead.

Happy summer vacation to our shining stars—may your days be filled with laughter, learning, and the simple magic of childhood.
