Counting Beyond: A Joyful Journey into Integers!

Dr. Adele Diamond, a leading expert in cognitive development, once said:

“The joy of learning in the early years is not just about content; it’s about developing the brain’s executive functions—attention, flexibility, and working memory—all of which are ignited through purposeful play.”

At SAI Angan, learning is never confined to the pages of a textbook—it spills into every corner of the classroom, weaving magic through activities that spark joy, ignite curiosity, and deepen understanding. On 21st April 2025, our vivacious Class III SAIoneers embarked on an exciting mathematical adventure: exploring integers on a number line.

This hands-on activity transformed the abstract concept of integers into a vivid and engaging experience. Using integer cards and colourful number lines, the young learners visualised both positive and negative numbers, discovering how numbers extend in two directions. The classroom buzzed with excitement as children hopped from one number to another, comparing values, discussing directions, and absorbing the logic behind it all—through play and collaboration.

At SAI Angan, we believe that true understanding comes from doing. This enriching activity strengthened the learners’ numerical fluency while enhancing cognitive abilities like logical reasoning and problem-solving. It was heartening to witness our little minds approach mathematics with such enthusiasm and confidence.

This activity was a perfect embodiment of that philosophy, where joy met learning and play met purpose. Here’s to many more moments of discovery, where our SAIoneers continue to learn, leap, and lead!
