The Showers

“Let the rain kiss you. Let the rain beat upon your head with silver liquid drops. Let the rain sing you a lullaby.” – Langston Hughes

Monsoon brings freshness, joy and happiness in our lives.  For the children of KG-II, singing to the tune of “What’s the Weather” and understanding how the rainy weather affects us was a great learning experience.

Children learnt about ‘Rain Gauge’ and that it is used to measure rainfall. They also got to know how a meteorologist measures the amount of rainfall. To make it more interesting, a rain gauge was prepared using the readily available plastic bottle and ruler. A garden watering can was used to make artificial rain. Children could relate this activity by seeing the rainwater being collected in the rain gauge. Children also made umbrellas from paper plates.

This activity helped to build up their vocabulary related to weather as well as enhanced their visual, fine motor, interpersonal and naturalistic skills.
