Rhyming words are two or more words that have the same or similar ending sound. To understand how the words rhyme, one need to use their ears and listen the words carefully, if they sound similar, they rhyme.
Rhyming words teaches children how language works and help them experience the rhythm of language. It also helps children to understand that the words which share common sound often share common letters. Learning to rhyme is fun as it adds joy to reading a text.
Students of Class-II learned about rhyming words through a fun-filled activity where each child was given a card with a word written on it. The teacher then asked the students to write some rhyming words for the word given on the card. Students happily did the activity. This activity helped the students on how to identify rhyming words and use them while writing. Such activities not only help children to expand their vocabulary skills but also prepare them to make predictions while learning words and them crucial decoding skills.
