Soaring High: KG II’s Radiant Kite-Making Adventure

“As our kites dance in the azure canvas of imagination, they carry not just the colors of creativity but also the wisdom of traditions”- Anonymous

At SAI Angan, traditions come alive, and recently, our KG II students embraced the vibrant celebration of Makar Sankranti with an engaging kite-making session. This annual festivity holds cultural significance, honoring the Sun deity Surya and marking the first day of the sun’s journey into Makara rashi.

1) Commemorating Makar Sankranti: Makar Sankranti is more than just a date on the calendar; it’s a cultural celebration steeped in symbolism. It signifies the transition of the sun into Makara rashi, and at SAI Angan, we believe in imparting the essence of these traditions to our young learners.

2) Sun’s Rays and Ancient Beliefs: According to ancient wisdom, flying kites on Makar Sankranti exposes individuals to the benevolent rays of the sun. Believed to prevent or reduce skin infections and winter-related illnesses, this age-old practice blends cultural significance with health awareness.

3) Delightful Kite-Making Session: Our KG II students recently delved into the joyous art of kite-making, transforming simple materials like paper cutouts, crayons, poster colors, glitters, and decorative items into colorful masterpieces. This hands-on activity not only showcased their creativity but also brought to life the cultural elements associated with Makar Sankranti.

4) Fun-Filled Learning: The kite-making session wasn’t just about crafting beautiful artifacts; it was a fun-filled learning experience. As the students carefully chose colors, designed patterns, and experimented with various materials, they were unknowingly absorbing lessons in art, culture, and creativity.

5) Sparking Excitement and Enjoyment: The activity resonated with the spirit of Makar Sankranti, sparking excitement and enjoyment among the students. Laughter echoed through the classrooms as each kite took shape, turning the creative process into a memorable group experience.

6) Cultivating Tradition and Creativity: Beyond the tangible outcome of colorful kites, the session cultivated an appreciation for tradition and creativity. Students not only learned about the cultural significance of Makar Sankranti but also discovered the joy of expressing themselves through art.

At SAI Angan, every celebration is an opportunity for holistic learning. The kite-making session not only connected our KG II students with age-old traditions but also allowed them to express their creativity in a delightful and culturally rich manner. As their kites soared high in the imaginary skies, so did the spirits of our young learners, taking with them the warmth of tradition and the joy of creative exploration.
