“Play is the highest form of research.” – Albert Einstein
In the exciting world of early education at SAI Angan, our young KG-II learners recently embarked on an exploration of new beginnings. With their insatiable curiosity, they delved into the fascinating concept of food preservation. Through a combination of storytelling, procedural writing, and hands-on culinary experiences, these eager minds not only developed a clear understanding of food preservation but also delighted in creating yummylicious biscuit waffle bites. This blog celebrates their inquisitive nature, as they actively engage in new learning adventures.
Listening to Stories and Writing Procedures: The journey of food preservation began with our KG-II learners listening to an engaging story that introduced them to the concept. As they absorbed the narrative, their imaginations sparked with curiosity. Building upon this newfound knowledge, the students then wrote procedures based on visual cues. This activity strengthened their comprehension skills and provided them with a clear understanding of the steps involved in preserving food.
Culinary Delights- Making Biscuit Waffle Bites: The most exciting part of the exploration was when our young learners eagerly participated in the creation of biscuit waffle bites. Filled with anticipation, they combined the flavours of mangoes, chat powder, and jam, which contained preservatives. With each carefully crafted bite, the children experienced the joy of bringing their culinary creations to life. Through this hands-on activity, they not only honed their fine motor skills but also deepened their understanding of the role of preservatives in food preservation.
Enthusiasm and Curiosity- Driving Clear Understanding: The enthusiasm and curiosity displayed by our KG-II learners throughout this exploration assured their clear understanding of the topic. Their eagerness to learn, coupled with their active participation in the activities, created an environment of engaged and motivated learners. Through their inquisitive minds, they developed a holistic understanding of food preservation, from listening to stories to witnessing the practical application of preservatives in the waffle bites they enjoyed.
Nurturing Social-Emotional Learning (SEL): This exploration not only enhanced their academic knowledge but also fostered social-emotional learning (SEL). Collaborating with their peers, following instructions, and expressing their ideas and feelings while engaging in the activities helped the children develop valuable SEL skills. They built confidence, practiced patience, and learned the importance of teamwork, further enriching their overall educational experience.
The KG-II learners’ journey into food preservation showcased their incredible curiosity and willingness to explore new learning adventures. Through storytelling, procedural writing, and the creation of delicious biscuit waffle bites, these young minds developed a clear understanding of food preservation concepts. As we celebrate their inquisitive nature and the joy they found in their culinary creations, let us continue to nurture their curiosity and encourage their pursuit of knowledge in all future learning adventures.
