IIM CASE STUDY

Drawing Stick Figures

Stick figures are simple drawing of a person or animal that is made up of few lines, dots or curves. While they appear to be minimal representations of our children’s outlook on life, they can in-fact tell us a great deal about how a child feel, their thought process, how they perceive the world, their view of others and how smart they are or will be in the future. An activity was conducted for the children of KG – I, where they drew stick figures of a boy or a girl by looking at the board. While the boys drew stick figure of a boy, the girls drew stick figure of a girl. They were then asked to write the beginning sound of the figure they drew on the paper provided to them. It was followed by asking the students to colour the pictures, which they thoroughly enjoyed. This activity was aimed to develop their eye-hand co-ordination as well as skills like linguistic, inter-personal and visual.
