“For my part I know nothing with any certainty, but the sight of the stars makes me dream.” -Vincent Van Gogh
A natural celestial object, visible in the sky, such as a star, planet, natural satellite, asteroid, comet, the Moon or the Sun etc. The Sun is also a star because it gives us heat and light. When it rises, it brings us a day. When it sets, it brings us night. The Sun rises in the east and sets in the west. We see many stars at night. They shine brightly in the sky. Stars are very big in size, but they look tiny because they are far away from us. Many stars make a pattern in the night sky, they look like animals, humans according to our imaginations. These patterns are called as constellation.
Today ,the children of Class – III made the structure of constellations in black chart paper, scrap books with the help of dark pencils, grey/white crayons and glitter pens. They made many images of constellations and labelled them. Some of the popular constellation such as Dog Star, Orion, Ursa Major, Ursa Minor and Hydra etc. The students put a lot of effort into drawing and understood how the shapes are being formed up in the sky. They learnt many facts about stars and constellations and shared their information through pictorial presentation. It was a worthy activity for the children to learn about heavenly bodies and to share their facts.
