“For many children, practicing the ability to recognize sounds in words can make a big difference in how fast they learn to read.” – Anonymous
The children of KG II learnt about ‘fr’ sound words in a classroom activity. It started with the teacher reading a story from the language content book giving emphasis on ‘fr’ sound words to help children get conversant with the sound.
It was followed by the students making a list of ‘fr’ sound words which they knew. Later the class was divided into two teams. Each team had a flashcard kept upside down in front of them. The children from each team were asked to flip the card, read the word and run to the frog. Team which reads the word first and reaches the frog quickly was declared as the winner. These activities helped children to develop their linguistic, interpersonal, intrapersonal, visual and kinestheic skills.
