“True Teachers are those who help us think for ourselves.” – Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan
Teachers play the most important role in our life after our parents. They hold the ability to improve the lives of the students with just the right mix of chalks and challenges. They selflessly strive for the wellbeing of their students, by creating a joyful learning environment, by identifying their innate skills and helping them to polish it.
Teacher’s Day celebration started in India in the year 1962, when a group of enthusiastic students requested permission from Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the former President of India and an acclaimed teacher to celebrate his birthday on 5thSeptember. The selfless Dr. Radhakrishnan instead suggested to devote the day to honour all the teachers.
Students of KG I created a lively environment to pay respect to their teachers. The students showed their reverence by putting tilak, gifting flowers and touching the feet of their Guru. They also presented cards which the little ones had prepared with great love and care. One of the students enacted the role of Dr. Radhakrishnan and the teachers described the role and importance of the great teacher.
This activity helped the students to know the importance of Teacher’s Day and the significant role of teachers in their life. It improved their Linguistic, Visual and Intrapersonal skills.
