In Hindi language, vowels are known as Swar varn and the consonants are known as Vyanjan varn. When we write Swar and Vyanjan together, these swar varns convert into matraas. Every Swar varn has its own matraa. These matraas are used to make words. An interesting activity was conducted for students of Class-II on ऋ ki matraa. The students drew a tree and on its trunk they wrote the letter ऋ and coloured it with brown. Each child wrote one word on a leaf of the tree using ऋ ki matraa and coloured it with green. They pasted their own leaves to complete the tree. In this way they enjoyed the activity simultaneously learnt many words related to the matraa. The activity also helped to increase their vocabulary and develop their intra and inter-personal skills.
